Call for Satellite Event Proposals

Submissions of Satellite Event Proposals are Closed

Submission Deadline: Thursday, April 10, 2025

The AD de Groot Center at the University of Amsterdam, in collaboration with CCN, invites proposals for satellite events to be held on Monday, August 11, 2025. These events should complement the main CCN 2025 conference program. Participants of the satellite must, in principle, be attendees of CCN*. Satellite events can run from 11:30-18:00 (6 hour) or from 11:30-14:30 or 15:00-18:00.

Event Types & Scope

We welcome proposals for workshops, tutorials, and special sessions that align with cognitive computational neuroscience or closely related fields. Satellite events are particularly suitable for:

  • Programs requiring extended time beyond the standard 45-90 minute community event format
  • Specialized topics expecting focused attention

Venue Information

  • Location: University of Amsterdam, REC-A & REC-B buildings (main CCN 2025 conference venue)
  • Available room capacities: 20-150 participants
  • Date: Monday, August 11, 2025

Proposal Requirements

Please submit your proposal to Dr. M. Heilbron (), CCN Program Committee member and AD de Groot Center representative, by the 10th of April, 2025.

Your proposal should detail:

  1. Event title and format (workshop/tutorial/special session).
  2. Preferred time slot.
  3. Anticipated attendance and recruitment strategy.
  4. Budget plan (noting that basic AV equipment and rooms are provided) and how these will be covered.
  5. Event description, objectives, and target audience.
  6. Complete organizer contact information.
  7. Consist of a maximum of 2 pages.

Selection Criteria

Proposals will be evaluated jointly by CCN 2025 and the AD de Groot Center, with emphasis on:

  • Enhancement of the main conference without competing with core programming
  • Contribution to the field of cognitive computational neuroscience
  • Feasibility and organization
  • Some priority will be given to those engaging the, or initiated by, the local CCN community

Additional Information

  • Organizers are responsible for any technical requirements beyond standard AV equipment
  • Room assignments will be based on projected attendance and availability
  • Selected events will be promoted through CCN 2025 channels

For questions or additional information, please contact .

* If you want to deviate from this format, contact .

Mind Matching

Mind Matching

Tuesday Morning, August 12 - Time and Location TBA

Registration for Mind-Matching is Closed

If you have registered and are no longer able to participate, kindly let us know as soon as possible so we can offer your spot to the next person on the list.

Participate in Mind Matching at the beginning of the CCN conference to meet new potential collaborators, colleagues, and like-minded friends. You will get the chance to talk with several small groups over the course of an hour and leave with new connections for the rest of the conference and beyond.

CCN is again partnering with Neuromatch to match participants. Neuromatch’s proprietary approach “reads” your publications and interests and leverages machine learning and semantic processing techniques to identify your most suitable scientific matches. You can find more information about this process on their website.

This year, we will use participant's OpenReview profiles as input to the Mind Matching algorithm.  If you wish to participate in Mind Matching, please indicate your interest by checking the box during registration and entering your OpenReview ID number.  If you do not have an OpenReview account, follow this link to create one.  Please import your publications during sign-up for OpenReview (either manually or via DBLP) so that Mind Matching has information for the algorithm to match.

Social Event

Social Event

Thursday, August 14, Time TBA, IJver Terras Bar - N.D.S.M. Wharf

Cost: $45

Join us for a, hopefully, unforgettable CCN2025 social evening at IJver, nestled in Amsterdam North's iconic NDSM wharf. On Thursday, August 14th, we'll embark on a journey across the water to reach this industrial-turned-cultural hotspot. The evening features a seven-course walking dinner (including vegan and vegetarian options). For the first three hours, enjoy complimentary drinks including a curated selection of four specialty beers alongside red and white wines. The evening will be filled with further events and elements by the local organising committee.

Networking Lunch

Community Networking Lunch

Time and Location to be announced

Registration Required

Join us for a discussion-driven lunch focused on the future of our scientific community!

We will encourage participants to identify specific topics they hope to strategize around, then have small-group discussions about these ideas.

Before the event, we will reach out to participants to request relevant topics to discuss.

Please register to attend the lunch in your CCN account. Space is limited, so if you are not among the initial registered attendees, you will be placed on a waitlist. We recommend that those attending arrive on time as we will start accepting people from the waitlist shortly after the lunch starts. Once you've registered, if you are no longer able to participate, kindly let us know as soon as possible so we can offer your spot to the next person on the list.

Time and location details will be announced closer to the conference time.

Call for Community Events

Call for Community Events

Submissions of Community Events are Closed

Submission Deadline: Friday, March 14, 2025

We're launching a unique opportunity to shape the CCN experience, called Community Events. Submit your idea for an event that ignites curiosity, fosters connections, and tackles topics that are of high relevance to the field, albeit not necessarily about cognitive computational neuroscience per se (e.g., topics including, but not limited to, open science, climate, career and culture will be considered, along with science-related topics like new benchmarking challenges or hackathons). We encourage submissions with novel or unusual formats. Think beyond traditional presentations: propose interactive round tables, collaborative hackathons, competitions, chalk talks, or something else.

  • A Community Event can be between 45 and 90 minutes in length.
  • The target audience should be a sizable proportion of CCN attendees, from MS & PhD students, to postdocs and PIs.
  • Participation should not require special knowledge that isn’t widely represented in the community. Events should aim to be inclusive and interesting to a wide audience.

Application Details

Applications can be made either by individuals or groups.

A submission should be a single PDF with a 2-page limit that includes:

  • Title If selected, this is the title that will be announced in the program. Please consider this in selecting a title and aim to avoid titles that are too vague or too niche.
  • Abstract (1-2 paragraphs): If selected, this abstract will be used to announce your community event. Please keep this in mind as you prepare your abstract, as not everyone at CCN will be an expert in your field. A succinct abstract that clearly states the research problems and approach can help get the CCN community excited about your event.
  • Outline (1-3 paragraphs), in narrative form, explaining what the event will look like, and what its main learning goals are.
  • Audience and Accessibility (1-3 Paragraphs): details about for whom this event will be most useful and how you plan to make it interesting, how many attendees the format would be for, and what background knowledge is required or helpful.
  • Requirements Everything you’d need from CCN: room size and setup (lecture hall, small tables,...), AV requirements etc.
  • List of Organizers A list of people involved, their roles, and confirmation that each person will attend CCN 2025 in person. Describe the background of people involved and their expertise in the relevant area. Include a reference to relevant publications.
  • A Link (if available) to previously given tutorials or similar teaching presentations or recordings.

Submission Method

As part of the submission process, you will upload a single PDF file that should not exceed two pages in length. You will need to have the email addresses of all co-applicants that are part of the proposal. By typing their names you confirm that everyone is willingly part of this proposal application, and we will email confirmation to all co-applicants.

Selection Process

The program committee will select a limited number of submissions (usually 1-2) for presentation at the conference and results will be announced mid April.
